The electroacoustic album opera "Le 7 perle di Belzebù" by Fabrizio Basciano (Lamezia Terme, Italy) is divided into 7 movements preceded by a short piano ouverture. The work is inspired by the book "I racconti di Belezebù a suo nipote", written by the Armenian philosopher and mystic George Ivanovitch Gurdjieff. Basciano selects 7 among more than 40 chapters in Gurdjieff's work, and aims at producing a musical, philosophical, and conceptual interpretation of them. The work has been recorded at the Lante Records studio, and is produced by the Associazione Culturale Lante Arte. In this work Basciano fully expresses for the first time his musical ideal, which is a well-balanced fusion between electronic instruments and orchestral arrangements. The work showcases a wide array of ethnic instruments, such as sitar, Turkish lute, Native American recorder and other instruments belonging to far away cultures and musical systems. The work also represents a dynamic harmonic research, embodied in musical atmospheres with warm and ethereal traits, selected in order to be unique.
The work experiments further musical aspects, ranging from the musical timbre to the rhythm, from the linguistics to the sound synthesis, about which the author undertakes a long and detailed research. This opera was performed at Lamezia Terme's Politeama theater on the 3rd of June 2013, and has now been officially released by request of the artist through Nostress Netlabel.
